Evelyn|"Eve"|Lightbourne

On the 23rd of July 1947, a beautiful baby girl was born to the late Walter George Arthur and Jane Elizabeth Arthur. She was named Evelyn Victoria Arthur. She was the only child born to her mother. As she bloomed and her personality started to develop, it was seen from an early age that she was kindhearted, caring and a giving person. She displayed unselfish love for others and always did what she could to help them.

Evelyn was affectionately known to her family as “Eve”. Evelyn attended Sudden Junior School and Sudden Senior in Nassau. She later moved to Grand Bahama at the age of 15 years old and began working at Kings Inn as a waitress where she met and fell in love with Lionel Lightbourne(deceased) and later was joined in Holy Matrimony on May 25th,1966. The union produced one daughter, Renee “Opal” Lightbourne. After a while of settling in Grand Bahama, Evelyn grew her family by adding five beautiful children. A loving mother and homemaker Evelyn was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially for the holidays.

In the 1970s, she began work at the Food Fair as a Cashier and later pursued the Tourism Industry. On April 9th, 1987, Evelyn continued with a career in the Tourism Industry as a Straw Vendor in Port Lucaya Marketplace where she continues until sickness caused her to retire.

Saturday, December 14th, she was admitted to the Rand Memorial Hospital for medical attention and on the 22nd day of December, Evelyn peacefully exchanged time for eternity. 

Evelyn was predeceased by her Son, Nelson “Brad” Lightbourne, Brother George Arthur, and sister Mary Arthur-Wilchcombe.
